Meet The Counselor

Experienced & Caring Counselor, Gordon Bailey LMHC

For 16 years, Gordon Bailey LMHC in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, has helped clients overcome a variety of issues. Though he specializes in ADHD and behavioral issues, he has also seen children and adults with depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, grief and loss, addictions, and couples issues.

Before Counseling

Before becoming a well-known mental health counselor, Gordon's first career was in the computer field, which has aided him in helping clients who are in business and office environments. His background in computers also helps him analyze and solve problems as a therapist.

Making a Change

After the company he worked for was taken over by another organization, Gordon believed it was time to make a career change. He worked as a teacher's assistant in a special needs school, during which time he learned how to manage students with behavioral issues.

While working in the school systems for over 2 years, he was able to develop instincts to handle the challenges of managing children with issues in small or large groups.

During his time at the special needs school, he facilitated group sessions that teachers from other rooms watched and listened. After each session, teachers complimented him on his straightforward, honest, and caring approach, which gave him the idea to become a counselor.

Counseling Education

The group session experience and career testing persuaded Gordon to attend graduate school at Cambridge College in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He earned a master's degree with all courses pertaining to counseling. While earning his master's degree he spent a year in an internship program, where he counseled clients and spent 87 hours with other interns reading articles and learning techniques to counsel families. He has since attended seminars to keep abreast of new techniques in the counseling field.
